Frozen Mud Pie

2 cups Oreo cookie crumbs
2 tsp sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 gallon chocolate chip ice cream, softened
(or coffee flavor, well, or any flavor you'd like!)
Chocolate syrup
Additional Oreos for garnish (optional)
Combine cookie crumbs and sugar and stir in butter. Press into a ungreased pie plate. (go up the sides) Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Spoon 1/2 the ice cream into crust. Drizzle with chocolate syrup, in stripes across the pie. Carefully top with remaining ice cream. There is enough here for everyone to have one bite if you have little helpers, as I did. Drizzle with chocolate syrup again on top, in stripes, then take a knife and swirl with a knife. place extra cookies on top for garnish. Freeze until firm.
Remove from freezer 10-15 minutes before serving.

OK, Jamie. I know you closed comments on your main blog, but I never got a chance to comment during my horrendously busy day. I read your blog because you are a catholic mom like me struggling in her daily life to be holy and good and to love your children and your husband. You help me feel like that's a good place to be. I hope I do the same for others - when I get the chance :) I am so sorry for the hate and the way things turned out because of your post. Keep up the good work and don't let this get you down. P.S. the mud pie looks fantastic!

Like Celeste, I must comment on your other blog. I love it. I go there nearly everyday for inspiration and a reminder that there are good Catholic families out there. Don't give up.

Btw, I wish I weren't lactose intollerant. That mud pie looks delicious.

God Bless.

Jamie, your recent post in your other blog has made me quite sad, for lack of a better word.

I am a liberal. I was involved in the explosion yesterday. I was very polite, in my opinion, I did not participate in any of the hate-speech, and I did nothing but try to come to your defense. I told you where the anonymous comments were coming from. I was not attacking you at all.

And yet you say that I show hatred because I am a liberal. How, PLEASE tell me how I showed hatred?

I am a liberal who is, in fact, against abortion. But you still lump me together with the others who attacked you, say that my actions go against my words, say that I do nothing but spread hatred simply because of my political stance. I am not sure what to think about this.

I know you are a nice woman. A very, very nice woman who only wants the best for her family and for the world. And yet you hold bias against me, someone who has done nothing to you? Someone who has been nice to you in return?

I beg of you, please, PLEASE rethink your comment about liberals. What you experienced yesterday was the exception to the rule, you must understand that. Do not lump people together. God does not do such things, and we should always try to act as He would.

I have great respect for you, Jamie, and I was very saddened by what I encountered yesterday. You did not deserve any of that at all. However, I am more saddened by the fact that, by default of my being a liberal, you see me as one of your attackers as well. I pray that someday you will change your view and realize that we are all of us human, all of good and bad, regardless of political or religious boundaries.

Blessings,
Maria

It would be very sad to see you go but I know faimly has to come first.

Jamie- I am a lurker on your other blog, but not one looking to criticize you. I am a lurker that admires you and learns so much from the way you live your Catholic faith. I've been Catholic all my life, but I am in awe of the women I encounter in real life and on the internet who live their Catholic faith to the absolute fullest. It would be such a shame to close your blog. So many people would be deprived of all that you have to teach them by your example. I'm sure it hurts to read hateful comments aimed at you, but understand that the proportion of those people to those that support you is very, very small. I hope you feel lifted up by the many prayers that are being said for you.

Just a quick comment to the anonymous commenter, Maria. Sadly, the term liberal just seems to automatically apply to people that are pro-choice. Praise God that so many liberals are seeing the light and are now pro-life. It is going to take time for the general public to realize that it is not a given that a liberal is pro-choice. If you feel you must give yourself a "label," I would suggest pro-life liberal to avoid any confusion.

Oh, BTW Jamie, your mud pie looks delicious. I'm going to have to make that for my family (and myself- yum) very soon. :)

Maria-
I am glad you commented on this blog, very clever I'd say!

After I'd deleted the posts and the comments, I'd wished I'd seen or looked again at the person who told me about the group that was doing this. You were the only one who actually answered my question. Thank you. I hope you are not a part of that group, you certainly do not sound like you are.

I hope we can agree to disagree. I just do not believe a person can be liberal, vote liberal and claim to be pro-life.

You seem like a very sensitive, caring and nice person.

In my post I meant no ill-will towards you or anyone else. I was responding to this particular liberal group who attacked me yesterday. I think most of my everyday readers understand that, as quite a few of them have contacted me. I'm sorry If I hurt your feelings in any way. It was not my intention.

Blessings to you too.

Hey, sweetie. I'm sorry you were so attacked. I have no clue as to what happened or what was said exactly, but . . . wow. You know, I am glad I decided to switch my blogging up to less of my family and more of the Faith. I mean, I'm still sharing a bit, but being much more vague. Still, I'm sure it won't make me immune to attacks now and again.

Feel free to email me any time - I can give you my phone number that way and we can talk if you ever feel like taking that step.

HUGS and blessings from one gal who thinks highly of you, my sister in Christ,
Sarah
